Praise and Prayer

An informal time of praying and singing on alternate Thursdays (with Home groups) at 7.30pm at the church lounge. Praise and Prayer is led by members of the congregation who use themes and current needs to shape the content. Those who attend are invited to pray aloud or in silence.

See the calender for dates.

Priestfield Prayers

Jesus… has sent me so you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit. Acts 9:17

Give thanks; for Paul’s experience and for how we and others can have our eyes opened; for Messy Church on 27th April – for the activities, meal and message all working together.

pray for our world

• for crises in the world, for one that particularly concerns you.

• for all those suffering poverty, famine, war, illness, homelessness

• for our own country, for leaders with integrity, compassion and concern for the country and the needs of all those who live here.

pray for our community

• and for Michael McMullin when he starts working in our areas to help us with our mission here. Pray that our three churches will be able to see where God is working and where we can join in.

• for Craigmillar Park and Reid Memorial as they look forward to Rev Alex McAspurren’s induction in June.

pray for Priestfield

• for Christian Aid Week, and for Sierra Leone. Pray for the collectors; for opportunities to chat and make links.

• the Kirk Session meets on 13th May, give them vision, unity and prayer. Give thanks for all the hard work which goes on in the Church to support all that happens.

Messy Church on 25th May; activities are outdoors, and we are thinking about prayer as part of “Thy Kingdom Come.” Pray for good weather, the team, activities, the picnic and the message.

• for “Thy Kingdom come” – there will be opportunities to pray on our own and together.

The Rev Susan Brown, moderator has asked Churches to consider being part of Thy Kingdom Come which is a national call to pray – a wave of prayer.

25th May up to Pentecost on Sunday June 9th.

It is an encouragement for us to pray either on our own or with others to

• deepen our relationship with Jesus Christ

• pray for God’s spirit to work in the lives of those we know

• come to realise that every aspect of our life is the stuff of prayer

This gives us opportunities to pray in different ways. Also expecting our prayers to be answered.

Currently there are three ways to take part at Priestfield

• On Saturday 1st June there will be two Prayer Walks, one short and another a little longer. An opportunity to walk round a part of the Parish with others in prayer.

• A prayer vigil on Thursday 6th June, running from 12noon to midnight. Come and spend an hour in prayer around the Church building with different focuses.

• A “Thy Kingdom Come” Praise and Prayer on Thursday 6th at 7.30 leading up to Pentecost……..

Have a look at the website of “Thy Kingdom Come” and pray.
