35th Braid Scout Group

Priestfield Church hosts the 3 sections of the 35th Braid Scout Group: Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

Beavers logo

Beavers

Beavers are for boys and girls aged 6-8 years old.  They take part in lots of games, find out about the world around them, take part in craft activities and have fun making friends.

Cubs                           Cubs logo

Cubs are open to boys and girls aged 8-10½.  Every week they enjoy playing games and activities such as first aid, tracking, crafts, finding out about Scouting around the world and lots more.  Cubs take part in regular time away, either at camping or sleepovers.

You can earn lots of badges as a Cub to wear on your uniform.

Scouts are for young people aged 10½-14.  The Scout Troop is made up of different groups, usually of about 6, called patrols. Throughout the year, Scouts learn various skills, such as map reading, camp cooking and first aid.

Camping is an important part of the Scout programme, with a week long summer camp being a highlight of the year.  Scouts also have the opportunity to complete different levels of the Zodiac award, spending at least one night per month away from home each month of the year.  There are other regular opportunities for camping.

For further information about the Group please contact them at 35thcubs(AT)gmail.com

At the age of 14, Scouts move onto Explorers.  Our link unit is Meadows Explorer Scout Unit, which meet at Marchmont St Giles Church.  More information can be found at http://www.marchmontstgiles.org.uk/what-happens-at-marchmont-st-giles/activities-for-young-people/

Girl Guiding

Priestfield Church hosts both Rainbows and Brownies. Girls move onto the Guide section at another venue.

Rainbows
Rainbows is for girls aged 5-7 years. It gives girls a chance to try new things, develop their self-confidence and make new friends. We do lots of fun things including games, arts and crafts, messy activities in the garden and get external helpers for occasional evenings, such as a STEM ambassador, circus skills instructor and ceilidh dance teacher.

Have you ever been, or are you still a member of the Scout or Guide movements?

If so, would you like to get involved again with our youth organisations? If you are interested, even with no previous experience, please get in touch with Carole Stiff or Derek Syme.
